The Association of Producers and Packers Exporters of Avocado of Mexico (APAEM) informed today that they are prepared to supply the demand generated in the United States, before, during and after the edition of the Super Bowl LIII, which will be played on February 3.
About 120 thousand tons of avocado from Michoacan, will be tasted in the American Union, during the semifinal matches and the grand final or Super Bowl, of the National Football League (NFL).
This was reported by the president of the Association of Producers and Packers Exporters of Avocado of Mexico (APEAM), Gabriel Alejandro Villaseñor Zurita.
As for the sporting event, during which more avocado is consumed in the United States, the interviewee explained that
"since the playoffs begin, Americans are very used to eating the avocado chips or guacamole with potatoes, passing through the semifinals and finals and that's where consumption rises, Obviously the Super Bowl day we also have a very good sale ".
Villaseñor Zurita highlighted that in 2018, throughout the month of January, for the football season, about 100 thousand tons of avocado were consumed in the United States, adding that "we estimate that this year we will be able to reach 120 thousand tons. tons".
He pointed out that "the market in normal season, in the United States, consumes between 800 and 1,000 trucks equivalent to between 18 and 20 thousand tons, for the Super Bowl, we have an increase of 20 or 30 percent in sales"
